AUSA OPENS A NEW CHAPTER IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

AUSA is writing a new chapter in environmental matters. As well as having obtained the ISO 14001, the company is now working on an ambitious and comprehensive waste management project

Environmental concern is one of the company’s main pillars. From the very beginning, back in the 50’s, AUSA always showed an interest in environmental protection. Obtaining the ISO 14001, a certificate that officially recognises environmental management, marks out the renewed enthusiasm that the company has taken up with regard to environmental matters in all of its processes. A new chapter is now being written.

At CONSTRUMAT, as well as its usual stand, AUSA also presented another in the Sustainable Construction area. This second stand, a reflection of the company’s interest in environmental management, received many visits and attracted the attention of a number of the Architectural Departments of Spanish universities, expressing an interest in the waste management project that the Spanish manufacturer is putting together.

This is an ambitious project, still in the consolidation phase, and going by the name of AUSA EcoSite. It represents a breakthrough of great importance in terms of management and logistics regarding a full range of on-site waste. AUSA’s experience, of almost half a century serving the construction industry, has provided a solid base for a project that has already taken its first steps, at the hands of two construction giants: FCC (Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas) and ITEC (Instituto de Tecnologías de la Construcción), institutions that have collaborated with AUSA in this innovative proposal.

AUSA EcoSite proposes comprehensive and definitive solutions for all of the different types of waste that can be generated on building sites. For Xavier Torres, the head of the project, the on-site waste management market is going to be increasingly more closely regulated, and few companies will be capable of fully guaranteeing the processes that will have to be followed. Torres believes that bad waste management can lead to significant losses and, for that reason, AUSA management “may well be the best option for builders”.
